John LaBianca is a Senior Associate at Kilberry based in New York. John spent over 12 years at the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he led their global Organizational Development function responsible for executive leadership development, performance management, employee engagement, and competency development. He has held various senior level HR positions at the league, including leading the NBA’s flagship learning & development brand, NBA University, which was awarded a prestigious Gold award for Best Advance in Leadership Development by the Brandon Hall Group. He has also led the league’s global Talent Acquisition function.
Prior to joining the NBA, John was the Organizational Change Leader at Mellon Financial Corporation, heading up Mellon’s Organization Development Center of Excellence. Previously, John was the National Compensation Manager at Buck Consultants, National Talent & Culture Leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and spent additional time in the consulting business working for Ernst & Young.
John has over 20 years of strategic HR experience in all disciplines, including OD/OE design and strategy, talent development, employee engagement surveys, performance management design & implementation, leadership coaching & development and overall HR thought leadership, with deep expertise in the sports and entertainment, financial, and consulting services industries.
John holds an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of New Haven and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Executive Coach.
